Pintaboluo Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The Pintaboluo Formation was erected by Wang Naiwen in 1983. The section for the designation is in Guiya of the Baingoin County of Xizang (89°36′E; 31°50′N). The reference section is in Popoyala of the Baingoin County of Xizang (89°50′E; 31°45′N).
Lithology and Thickness
The Pintaboluo Formation is represented by gray medium-bedded clayey fine-grained oolitic limestone and clayey limestone interbedded with marl and quartz fine sandstone, locally with moderately basic volcanic rocks. It is 200 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its base is in conformable contact with limestone, mudstone, sandstone and siliceous rocks of the Popoyala Fm (Boboyagla Fm).
Upper contact
Unknown nature of contact to the overlying Hongyashan Fm.
Regional extent
The present formation is only seen in the Guiya and Popoyala areas of the Baingoin County, Xizang. It is persistent in lithology.

Fossils
In the Guiya and Popoyala areas, it yields foraminifera Lenticulina sp., Vidalina sp., Textularia sp.; and calcareous algae Acicularia americana, A. autique, etc.
